Earthquakes in Japan Kill at Least 7 People

An earthquake estimated at 6.8 on the Richter scale struck the northwest coast of Japan today, flattening hundreds of buildings and sparking a fire at a nuclear power plant. Late in the evening, a second quake shook the region.
